A huge well done to all pupils who received their exam results this summer. The school is very pleased with the results as 81% of students achieved at least A* - C grades at GCSE Level. There are many new courses and curriculum changes this year, allowing for flexibility and creativity in the class room. As we continue with our drive to become an outstanding school, we hope to build on the success so far and see many more pupils aspiring for further and higher educations.
A new initiative is underway to set up a Youth Parliament in Kidsgrove town. Both Clough Hall and Mary Hill schools will be electing eight students, one from each year group from Year 7 – 13 to represent the youth for this area. The electing process is underway and students have had the opportunity to take part in an official polling day to experience what it is like to vote for their preferred candidate. Once elected, students will visit the Council chambers to have their say on issues they feel are affecting the town in which they live.
A new hair and beauty salon has just opened at Clough Hall School! On Thursday 15th September the Mayor of Kidsgrove declared the new ‘Image’ salon officially open and students were keen to get stuck in with practical activities. The Hair and Beauty facility is a new addition to the school allowing students at Key Stage 4 and 5 to take up courses in this area, getting practical hands-on experience in a real live setting. There are a number of vocational courses here at the school and within Kidsgrove sixth form allowing students to progress in areas such as Construction, Hospitality and Catering and now Hair and Beauty.

Clough Hall is placing a high emphasis on the subject of Mathematics. Over the summer holidays while many were enjoying the lengthy break, a number of site staff at the school were busy transforming the Maths area of the school. The upper school corridor had a makeover creating a more pupil friendly environment for lessons and activities. The brightly coloured rooms and new equipment is part of the school’s initiative to raise achievement in Maths and encourage innovative learning.
